Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre was the debut production for the Plough On Sunday company (formally known as the Preston Young Actors). Staged on three sides in St Mary’s Church, Penwortham, the adaptation of Bronte’s famous text was generously supported with costume and props from the Coliseum theatre in Oldham.

Although live music would accompany future productions, sound scapes of wind, fire, rain and farm animals were all created by the cast as they brought the world of Jane and Mr Rochester to life.

Fun Fact  The cast of Jane Eyre were visible on stage for the entire performance with modern copies of Bronte’s novel used as props to represent various items such as Bibles, chalk slates and food trays.
